Rather than living in a world that continues to be rooted in values of competition and self-interest, we need to foster an alternative economic subjectivity that values community, compassion, and cooperation.

A solidarity economy provides a valuable, viable alternative. With its cores values of cooperation, solidarity, and reciprocity, it fosters an alternative economic subjectivity that is rooted in these values. Further, being rooted in local needs and in finding creative solutions to these local needs is deeply empowering to people in living their daily lives.
