Global Pressures May Spark Rural Economic Revolution

COLVILLE, Wash. - Rising oil and distribution costs that give many businesses heartburn may actually be the catalyst for a rural economic revolution, said author Michael Shuman.

Shuman, who was invited to Colville by the WSU Cooperative Extension for a recent economic workshop, said local, small businesses have a leg up on their commercial counterparts because they do not typically incur high distribution and transportation costs.
