Five years on from the catastrophic magnitude seven earthquake, which hit in January 2010, the Caribbean nation remains in turmoil. Around three million people were affected by the quake, while death toll estimates ranged from 100,000 to more than 300,000...
But from within the gloom has emerged an inspirational story of mutual self-help. In the Lascahobas region, situated one hour west of the Dominican Republic border, 23 families received keys to their new properties last month (April 2015).
