Catalyzing worker co-ops & the solidarity economy

Environment, Economy, Equality

Environmental efforts which neglect the role of capitalism will not succeed in achieving sustainability. This is a complex topic, so I’ll do my best to present a simplified overview.

One can conceptualize sustainability as a three-legged stool composed of three E’s: Environment, Economy, and Equality. Take away or otherwise neglect one of the legs and the entire stool falls to the floor.

Too often, emphasis is on the Environment leg with little consideration for the Economy and Equality legs. These sustainability efforts will be ineffective at best. To understand why requires a brief overview of capitalism’s relation to the environment.
