Cooperative Fund of New England Announces New Executive Director

The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Micha Josephy will be leading the Cooperative Fund of New England as our new Executive Director, starting June 1, 2019.

Under the leadership of Rebecca Dunn for the last 33 years, CFNE has grown to become an integral part of the cooperative economy in New England with over $60 million disbursed to co-ops across the region, including a current loan portfolio of $23 million to 95 co-ops and community nonprofits.

CFNE has a strong staff team of 6 people. The organization was led by Micha and Dorian Gregory as Interim Co-Directors after Rebecca’s retirement in February. Dorian will step into a new role of Deputy Director, supporting CFNE’s loan program and other work.

CFNE has a devoted and active Board of Trustees who worked diligently to search for our next Executive Director. “After an extensive process and national search, we found the perfect candidate right in our own organization,” said Board President Marilyn Scholl.

Micha will build on CFNE’s current strengths while bringing new skills, perspectives and creativity to the table. In making a unanimous recommendation to the board, the search committee emphasized these qualities that Micha will bring to the ED role:

  • A clear vision for the future of CFNE

  • Concrete plans for the next stage of the transition

  • An awareness of professional development opportunities throughout the organization

  • A long-term, successful relationship with CFNE as Program Manager and Interim Co-Executive Director

“I am honored by the Board’s appointment to this new role” said Micha. “CFNE is a critical part of the rapidly growing co-op ecosystem. I am excited to work with our investors, borrowers, and partners to increase the relevance of cooperative enterprise for all of our region’s communities!”
