Real jobs are at stake here as well as the unique vibrancy of a downtown that declines with every Starbucks, Subway, CVS, and Bank of America that stands ready to fill the gaps left by discouraged local entrepreneurs.
One answer is to make sure bodies of workers are aware of the support available, both financial and technical, to explore whether they might purchase and manage their businesses and let the owner know of their interest in a timely manner.
